Company history

1992

Foundation and expansion (1992-2004)

Our firm was founded in 1992 with the foundation of the company MYS Asesores de Barcelona, S.L. by Mercè Minguillón and Jaume Isern, both Social Graduates. Before deciding to found the company, both founders began working in the sector as liberal professionals in 1990, consolidating the necessary experience to undertake a business project. With strong roots and presence in the Sant Andreu district of Barcelona, the M&S firm was conceived as a local agency that sought to offer a quality service at competitive prices for freelancers and companies in a changing regulatory context, marked by the recognition of Social Graduates as professionals in the legal sector in 1991 (Royal Decree 1665/1991) and the creation of the Tax Agency in 1992 (Law 31/1990). During its first 12 years of existence, the firm consolidated its position at a local level and obtained a series of agreements that also consolidated it at an economic level.

2004

Economic crisis and change of business model (2004-2017)

In 2004, the company's second change of headquarters took place as a result of the good general economic prospects, but the first signs of the crisis in the sector began to be felt immediately, triggered definitively between the end of 2007 and mid-2008. The crises of 2008 and 2011 marked a turning point for the company, which saw its resources drastically reduced, due to the drop in revenue caused by the cessation of activity of many customers and the dry stop of the company's organic growth. As a result, the company's management began a search process aimed at finding an investment project that would enable it to recover the lost ground and expand its customer target. Thus, in 2013 the company opened a second office in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, thus expanding the business for the first time in its history and offering its services to the Chinese community. Between 2013 and 2015 the company experiences a slight recovery thanks to the incorporation of the new package of clients, but a new and forced change of headquarters in Sant Andreu for reasons beyond the company's control and the will of the management, once again, financially burdened the company and its recovery.

2017

Generational changeover and reformulation of the company (2017-present)

The move to Sant Andreu in 2017 marks the second turning point for the company, as management begins to work on the generational changeover of the company. With the aim of building a solid base on which to grow, the decision is made to close the Barcelona neighborhood office in 2021, thus putting an end to almost 30 years of uninterrupted presence there, and leaving the agency with its current headquarters in Santa Coloma de Gramenet. The reduction of the company's scale has an impact on a process of adaptation and reformulation of the company that ends in 2023 with the transfer of the firm to the next generation, with Jordi Isern (Tax Technician) taking the reins of the company with the aim of consolidating and modernizing the company from its Santa Coloma de Gramenet headquarters and reformulating the role of the company in a sector that is once again in a changing regulatory environment.
